Our History
Women on Wheels®
Our mission
statement is "To unite all women motorcycle enthusiasts for recreation,
education, mutual support, recognition and to promote a positive image of
motorcycling."
We are dedicated to promoting the interests
of all women who ride, whether on their own motorcycle or as a passenger on
someone else's, or as future motorcyclists! We have riders in their teens,
in their eighties, and every age in between! WOW's focus is on the member
and the lifestyle of motorcycling, rather than on the machine. WOW members
ride every make and model of motorcycle imaginable - it's not what we ride
that's important, but that we ride!
Only women motorcycling
enthusiasts can become Full Members, but men and children are eligible as
Support Members if sponsored by a Full Member. More information on
membership can be found at Women On
Wheels®.
Once you become a member of WOW, you can
participate with as many local chapters as you choose. There are currently
over 60 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Prospective members are invited to attend a few events to see
if this is the group for you.
The Atlanta Chapter of Women On Wheels® was chartered in May of 1987. The Peach State Riders Chapter WOW was chartered February of 1997. These two chapters merged into one in 1999. As an AMA chartered organization we have grown to a current membership of over 150. We enjoy a very diverse group of people and riding experience. In addition to our fall and spring camp outs, we sponsor monthly rides that are always great fun. We have participated in National WOW Ride Ins, the Sweet Potato Festival in Ocilla, GA, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, GA, and many AMA sanctioned events and rallies.
The Atlanta Chapter is proud
to have hosted two of our National Ride-Ins, in 1992 and 2006. Once you've been
to a National WOW Ride-In, you'll want to go to another. Each year
they are held in different cities throughout the U.S. Traveling to
them is just half the fun!
An open invitation is extended for you to visit our next
meeting. We know you'll have fun riding with women who have the same
interest...safe motorcycling! Come early to get a seat, enjoy your dinner
and let's talk about our motorcycling adventures... past, present and
future! We believe you'll like what our chapters have to offer.
We have a lot of fun, promote safe motorcycling, and share lots of good
times. AND WITH US... It's not important WHAT you ride, it's that you
RIDE!
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday evening of the month
"intown" at Moe's Restaurant on Briarcliff Road.
We also meet on the 3rd
Saturday morning at a location outside the perimeter with a ride afterwards.
This meeting location rotates to various locations throughout the year.
In addition to our regular meetings, other rides are scheduled
throughout the year, which include scenic rides, charity rides, overnight trips,
camping trips, plus our National Ride-In. We have other social events throughout
the year include potluck picnics and a holiday social.
Take a look at our
calendar for more
